I still am not sure if I want to make photography a business in my life, but I have had quite a few people recently ask me to take pictures for them. I just can't say no, it is so much fun for me! Letting go

Sometimes we have to let go, even if we really don't want to. My Grandma's funeral was yesterday. She had been in the nursing home for a few months and had several close calls. This picture was taken when her kidneys were no longer function and she was asking to say goodbye to everyone. So we took our little family up there and said our goodbyes to her. She got a lot of comfort when we would hold her hand. This is a picture of my son holding his Great Grandma's hand for the last time. She held on for another month after this, but this was one of our last moments with her on this earth. She returned to our Heavenly Father last Wednesday October 5th. Even though it was hard to let her go, I know she is in a better place and she is happy to be with Grandpa again! I will surely miss my sweet Grandma!

I had two families ask me to take their pictures when they were down for the 4th (brother and sister actually, lol!) I don't take pictures very often.. I'm just not out to start a business, but it is fun to do it every now and then!
This is such a cute little family! The baby was not wanting me to take her picture, but I think we got some good ones regardless. And that pout is just adorable!

So.. I didn't acutally push the button on this picture(I did edit it). I had an idea in my head of an art piece that I would use for decoration. I wanted it to kind of symbolize a family tree, with our little family sitting underneath it. We found a tree, and I told my sister-in-law where to stand and kind of what I was looking for. It turned out to be just what I wanted! I printed it off in metallic and it looks so great hanging on my wall!

Oh I just love the color yellow! Right now I am redecorating my room with yellow as an accent color. I was testing out the throw pillows I made and the light was just so good, I had to take some shots of my sweet baby girl!

We had a quick photoshoot with my little family yesterday. I was pleased with how they turned out, with how unpatient everyone was being. :) I decided I wanted bright colors to bring color to our walls. We have a blue garage so that is what I decided as the backdrop. Now if I will only get them printed instead of just letting them sit on the computer!

I think this may be one of my all time favorites!

Fix it Friday: Love for Lightroom

So I thought that this week I wasn't going to participate in the fix it Friday, but with such an awesome picture and something that will look good with many different Lightroom presets I just had to put some on and show how easy it is.
I have a free trial of Lightroom right now (highly recommend it!) and love that you can push a button and it will edit the photo for you. I searched for some free ones and got some really cool ones! Go here to find them, there is a whole list of free ones. Anyway, on all of these except the sepia I pushed a button and did nothing else. How easy is that? I love it!

Fix it Friday

Well it is Friday again, time for a fix it over at I Heart Faces!
Here is the before:

And one in black and white, I am a sucker for black and white pictures lately!

My steps for the color:

First I took it to lightroom to brighten everything but her face. I used the adjustment brush to color everything and then turned the saturation up to bring out the color.

Took it to Photoshop Elements to brighten her eyes. Selected her eyes with the selection brush, and adjusted the brightness and contrast.

I then brightened up her face a little bit. I think that is all I did, but there could have been more steps that I am forgetting!

For the Black and White (used lightroom):

This one was simple. I used a black and white preset that I have to convert it to b&w.

Turned the brightness down a little bit

Then took the adjustment brush to her eyes and adjusted the brightness and contrast.

I just remembered I adjusted the noise reduction on both of them in lightroom. Just upped the luminance.

Fix it Friday

Every Friday on I Heart Faces, there is a photo that they put on for everyone to edit and fix up. I have been wanting to do one of these for a few weeks now and decided to join in this time. It was a lot of fun, can't wait for more!

I am not exactly sure where I want to go with this photography thing, the thought of photographing people scares me. I don't feel like I know enough about it to make anyone pay me to take their pictures. But man I sure do love it! I snapped these pictures during our easter egg hunt yesterday and was so happy with how they turned out, I wanted to share!

This photo hunt is very last minute! I wasn't going to do it because my camera has been having issues all month long, and lately it hasn't worked at all. Yesterday I got a wild hair and decided I was going to do it. I borrowed my parents' point and shoot camera and finished the ones I didn't have(which was most of them). I didn't end up getting a picture of a game, but oh well. Hopefully next time I will have a camera that works!
